Retro Vibes Are In + a New Café + a New Pub x2
Food News Leftovers
Be kind and rewind… your 🍹! A ‘90s video rental store-inspired speakeasy is popping-up March 25–May 17 inside PKWY Tavern at 4930 W. Flamingo Rd. Back 2 The Video Store leans fully into Stranger Things-era nostalgia with VHS tapes, retro décor, and cocktails served with a side of Blockbuster-era vibes. 📼
Buongiorno, Las Vegas! Caffé Vita has opened its first local storefront, and (speaking of the ‘90s…) it’s on Maryland Pkwy by UNLV! Vita serves up Italian-inspired breakfast, pastries, and coffee with a side of classic cozy coffeehouse vibes. It’s a perfect spot for your morning espresso or a midday escape to Italy without the plane ticket.
Cheers 🇬🇧 → Sláinte 🇮🇪 | The shuttered Crown & Anchor Pub is getting a makeover. A new pub — The Irish Spot (yep, that’s the name!) — is taking shape, promising fresh eats, drinks, and a place to claim as your next favorite hangout. Las Vegans and UNLV students, get ready to raise a Guinness! Can you split the G?
The aptly-named Bagel Chaos is coming to Henderson ⚡ and it’s apparently (in)famous for not slicing or toasting your bagel… You just tear off chunks and dip them (err… like chicken tenders?) in various flavors of cream cheese. We’re undecided about this.
Spilling the Tea
The sale price isn’t cheap, and the rent is high at Chinatown’s Le Café Central… which may explain why it’s up for sale less than a year after opening. Apparently the cozy ☕ + 🥐 spot couldn’t hang around to become your go-to pastry break…
DTLV’s Brewery Row-area will soon see another stop for big 🍺 and bountiful bites. The tentatively named Brewhaus is taking shape on Las Vegas Blvd at Oakey. No timeline yet, but the brewery silo is up…
Pet Peeve of the Week
Restaurants using butane torches to do tableside crap. Well, and maybe tableside presentations in general that do not add anything substantive to the dish. A recent visit to a Strip steakhouse was ruined by the smell of butane permeating the air. You could almost taste it. Either have better ventilation, find another method, or just stop doing it. Who wants to smell that? –Lori H
Order of the Week
If you’re craving cozy vibes and big flavor, head to the Viking Mike’s Alpine Yurt Bar in the Arts Distict for this week’s pick: a house-made Italian sausage that’s the perfect comfort bite in a bar that feels straight from the Alps. 🏔️
