The Rebirth of Breakfast, Killer Booze,a Big Burger Blast & …the “Best” Las Vegas Pizza?

Food News Leftovers

  • After nearly a decade, another morning spot has quietly left Las Vegas. Squeeze In — a beloved Truckee, California cafe that began in 1974 as a decidedly dainty diner (you literally had to “squeeze in”) — has closed its Fort Apache location. The departure left Las Vegas with one fewer egg-centric eatery, making us wonder: Is boozy brunch eating into the family-friendly breakfast market?

  • How does a creepy, true-crime themed theatrical booze experience sound? The Serial Killer Speakeasy features live storytelling inspired by the disturbing cases of Ted Bundy, Jeffrey Dahmer, John Wayne Gacy & Ed Gein — each inexplicably paired to a cocktail 🤯. The gruesome 90-minute immersion runs May 29–30 in DTLV, starting at $55.

  • Despite the bad breakfast breaks, there is a sunny-side up! The former Flamingo Road Egg Works, which closed April 5 after nearly 30 years, was rapidly reborn as the Omelette Cafe, led by Francesco Sessa. The Sessa family is well-versed in serving breakfast, with several local eateries including Omelette Cafe (Skye Canyon) and Omelet House (Summerlin) — as well as the Sicilian Guys Trattoria.

  • True to Vegas, the world’s largest In-N-Out Burger is emerging at the BLVD on the Strip. The brand’s signature crossed palms are planted, but the nearly 8,000-square-foot restaurant remains under construction. You should be able to scarf a double-double sometime this summer (with indoor and patio seating available!), and also treat yourself to varied company merch that goes well beyond just t-shirts.

Spilling the Tea

A local TV news show recently held its annual pizza 🍕 bracket, and an LV Neapolitan-style chain with a 3.25-star rating somehow wrangled the citywide win from recognized heavyweights like Metro Pizza, Pizza Rock, and Naked City Pizza. Maybe it’s their giant 36” pie that earned them the popular vote, or even the budget-friendly $2 slices…🤔

Pet Peeve of the Week

When your water glass is empty for 20 minutes but your plate gets cleared in 2 seconds... or before you even finish eating. Same goes for taking my cocktail before it’s completely gone!

🔥 Banana Leaf Seabass 🔥 at Tamba

You may have had sea bass, but probably not like this. At the impressive 2026 James Beard award finalist Tamba, the fish is wrapped in fragrant banana leaf and roasted with truffle purée, edamame, kerala-style sauce, and creamy citrus lime — a preparation that entices with bold aromatics and delights with delicate texture. It’s even more delicious than expected.
