Food News Leftovers
Sad Booze News… One of Las Vegas oldest surviving 24/7/365 bars, Champagne’s Cafe, has closed. Open since 1966, it was legendary LV hangout - first for socialiste and mobsters, then UNLV students, then karaoke fans. RIP
The relocation of James Beard finalist Aroma Cocina (and their amazing tacos) from Green Valley to Chinatown is taking longer than expected. Social media posts push the opening to mid-March.
Lake Mead Blvd is fast becoming a NW foodie corridor, with Pierogi Village, Oh La La French Bistro, Aromi Italian, Nanny’s Cafe, and Nittaya’s Secret Kitchen all nearby. Now comes Muu BBQ Bento, moving its genuine Japanese cuisine from a Main Street ghost kitchen into the Summerlin-adjacent ‘hood.
Briefly mentioned during John’s ChinaTown census chat, we have the details about Hatoya Ryoyousha! Pouring in March, ours will be the first location of this matcha specialist outside Japan 🤯. Rooted in Kyoto’s refined tea culture, Hatoya will source hand-picked matcha from the honored Uji region of Kyoto Prefecture. 🍵😋
KJ’s (the replacement for The Pepper Club at DTLV’s English Hotel) is now open for morning café service (7–11am), then steak-and-seafood dinner (5–11pm).

Peter Feinstein, the guy who built his empire on Sapphire Gentlemen’s Club and the El Dorado Mexican restaurants, is now slinging charbroiled champs 🍔 at his latest Fatburger franchise in Hughes Center, right in the shadow of The Sphere.
It serves until 3am — because nothing says "Vegas after dark" like a late-night burger run post-concert, or post-Blackjack binge... or post-whatever else kept you out till the wee hours. From stripper poles to salsa to sesame seed buns, Pete’s portfolio is the town’s most (ahem) well-rounded. …

A provocatively-named local donut shop has apparently pulled its plans to open in Boulder City after that burg’s buttoned-down bosses barred them from building a giant 💩-emoji donut sign. The former 7-11 is once again available for lease…

Pet Peeve of the Week
I sit at the bar most often. I try to count out seats so that my partner and I aren’t leaving single seats on each side since most people arrive at least as a pair. I wish everyone did the same. –Daniel M
Order of the Week
Stop in Chinatown’s unlikely POP! Cafe and order the cup ‘n char pepperoni pizza. It’s a thin wood-fired crust with proper char, and cheesy in all the right ways. Pro Tip: Get it to-go. This is not a linger-over-your-latte situation. Grab the box, get it home, and gobble it down! 🍕 We heard from one local foodie who concurred, calling it a "great find" and "awesome"!
